This what he sent me an email saying:

I'll like you to know that a Payment Worth ($3780) has been mailed to you and it will get delivered today or tomorrow, Via UPS.Here is the shipment tracking number for it via UPS (xxxxxxxxxx).The Payment were meant to be in Money Orders, But i was out of town due to a Family Death (My Father Died) so i had to Get my friend send out the check to you...  You will have to get the check deposited at your bank once you receive it, the check will clear soonest, you can confirm that by checking your account online later in the day.

Deduct your money for the service you want to do on my Units($800), and you will be sending the rest of the funds to my shipper through Western union Money Transfer to my shipping agent so that they can ship out the laptops to you Unfaillingly tomorrow, and i will get back to you with the shipment tracking number as well for the units coming you way so you can know when they arrives..Western Union charges should also be deducted from my money.The excess funds is meant for shipping and insurance fee of  the  units forth and back as you finish working on them. I will compensate you with $60 for running around Western union..reconfirm me the address once again where you want the laptops to be shipped to.

(That is the shipper's information required to send the money via Western Union  money transfer) Once the money's sent, you should  send me the following infomation via email
A.  Your full names and address exactly how you wrote it on the Western Union slip.
B. The receiver's name exactly how you penned it down on the Western Union slip.
C . The total amount sent after Western Union fees has been deducted from the Money.
D . 10 Digit MTCN number (This is the 10 digit number for receiving funds,it is not the receipt number)I will be waiting on your email,complete with the details,please get to it as soon as you can,the transaction has to be fully completed as soon as possible and hope reading back from you soonest.

Hi, I got practically the exact same message and got a phone call from the guy but he said his name is Avant Hendrick. I also just got the check in the mail today. Did you ever do what he asked? And if so, what happened? Please get back to me as soon as you can because I don't want to get scammed. My email is [email protected] or call me at (702) 275-6243. Thanks.

I have been receiving e-mails and phone calls from this guy.  He is a scammer.  Do not deposit the check because while it may appear real and will clear the bank it is because he stole the bank information from a legitimate company.  This will then get you in trouble for depositing fake checks not to mention bounced checks when the bank takes out everything that you deposited.  

What I did was tell him I deposited the money and then sent him a FAKE MTCN number to make him embarrass himself by requesting a money order that didn't exist. I have also called the FBI and given them his information.

How did you call the FBI on him?

I just sent him a fake MTCN number.  I think he feels dumb now.
