They called and posed as AT&T. I asked 3 times and was told each time that they were AT&T and they could reduce my phone bill by about $10 each month by consolidating it. I agreed and then was transferred to another extension and when I asked that woman if it was AT&T, she mumbled "no it's LDBC". When I said I'm not agreeing to anything unless it is AT&T, she hung up! I had to call the real AT&T to make sure they didn't hijack my phone service from them. I also put a freeze on my phone line so that another company cannot hijack my number in the future.
Same thing happened to me, George. I work for a business, and my boss (the owner) was gone. These people called and posed as AT & T. I told them that my boss deals with the phone service and they would need to talk with him. The person said, "Yes, we've talked with him and he said that you or Sharon (my co-worker) could finish up the details." That sounded so plausible to me, I agreed. Then they put me through all this crap and it was nothing but a scam. DON'T TALK TO THESE PEOPLE!
