I just received a call from this number on my CELL PHONE! When I phoned it back, I got an automated operator response, "The number you called is not in service." I don't know who it is that called both of us, but it is NOT American Funds, unless American Funds is spoofing a non-working number as their caller ID!
The company is American Funds they are a mutual fund company and have multiple office locations. More than likely if you recieved a call from them it is someone in the service department trying to contact you. Using the last number on file but they should be leaving a message.

The poster two above is correct, this IS American Funds. They contacted me using the above number regarding a disbursement check for a college fund and left a message. The number to get back to them is 1-800-421-0180. My caller ID shows "CAP GRP COMPANI" so I didn't answer the call as I didn't recognize the caller!
