i just received a call from this number. A lady said she wanted to get both sides of story before prosecution begins a case. I don't know what's she's talking about and do not plan on calling her back.

Just got a call from them on 7/8/2015. Got a call from a woman at this number (210-556-1996), Michelle Dunn, from Fraud Investigation Unit but doesn't state with what agency. Say there is a claim filed against me for fraud with their agency. I know my life, I know that is BS, and I told her, "Bull [***], honey" and hung up. She tried to call back immediately and left a message with her 'name' stated above. This is an obvious scam, and not a very original one at that. My caller ID identifies them as FWC Division, which if you Google it, pulls up the Florida Wildlife and Game Association.
The best way to always ensure you aren't being duped is to a) Know you aren't a fraud, and b) note the absence of verifiable information such as company/agency name, and the ability to google that 'agency's' phone number. A legitimate collector will always state whose office they're with, and you will likely receive printed material in the mail or will be served through your local court in association with such charges. Agencies like this don't just call you up. No, they file it all down on paper, state who they are clearly, and the ACTUAL local law for your area (for fraud and charges of the like) is always involved. Don't fall for it. They may even have the last four of your social security number, but if they were able to hack a server and steal information (as is sometimes likely when you hear about bank security being compromised) or you were phished or your info sold to a 3rd party, only the last four will be visible to them. Don't be stupid. Do not verify any info with these creeps, don't help them fill in the blanks to scam you. Also, report all numbers and activity to the FBI's fraud alert report webpage.
