Call from 'Wess' saying he was from Wells Fargo and wanted to know about if I had a loan with them.  He then started asking a bunch of questions about the business I work for.  I mentioned that even if I actually did have a loan with Wells Fargo that merely servicing a loan typically does not give someone/a loan company the right to ask about company finances... especially when the company has multiple divisions.  He said it did.  So I asked which division he was asking about... he did not know.  Later he told me that he held a promissory note on 'me' or the Company I work for (he was not sure which) and wanted to know the type of property and actual address that the promissory note was for.  I told him if he had the note and worked for Wells Fargo that he would be looking at the Deed, Title, or Promissory note which would actually hold the majority, if not all, the information that he was looking for.  He said he would get back to me and hung up.
Opinion#1  A total scam and he is phishing for information
Opinion#2  Some guy working for a 'service' company loosely affiliated with the banking industry and given a list to 'cold call'

Either way, very unprofessional... I refused to give him any actual information.  WARNING--- he had a lot of 'smooth' lines/answers.  Be wary or just ask him to remove you from his calling list and hang up.

I contacted the Fraud department at Wells Fargo to report him and the phone number.  Wells Fargo, of course, said they would never call to ask me for any information...
I am hoping since they have his actual number that they will just walk up and say 'hi' and see what this guy is actually up to.
