Call from Ryan (strong accent) representing company Hartehanks. While not the most difficult to understand (as compared to some) I did have to ask him to repeat some words. Claims we spoke in Feb 2008, but I have no record or memory of a conversation with this person or company. He had my company info, e-mail address, etc. on file. I interrupted and asked a few questions of my own before reluctantly agreeing to participate in the survey. I sometimes view these type of calls as a "phishing" attempt to collect data about our environment which is then sold to the "black market" so criminals can identify targets. Perhaps I'm just a bit paranoid. Anyway, he was calling on behalf of computer companies like MS, Dell, HP, etc. In addition to questions about my company (address, # of employees, etc.) also asked questions about our data infrastructure and types of products used. Examples include, LAN, routers, switches, VPN, DSL, Ethernet, fiber, firewalls, IDS, and ISP's name. I answered most of his questions, but gave very few specifics pertaining to VPN and intrusion detection systems used. Most of my answers were vague. Entire conversation was under 11 minutes.
