Linda
Said his name was David Johnson (LA, Calif), I couldn't understand him very well but heard him say something like, Dept of Purgery, if I didn't call him back soon, I would be charged with purgery. (accent was middle east or India).  He's called twice!  I think the first time, he said Dept of Treasury.  (I found a way to stop the calling is pick up and hang up immediately.  Don't even given them a second to talk.  This is the 2nd caller I've received, same subject, different state (Wash, DC).

Same as Linda's above. Got a broken message saying they were the Treasury department and I needed to call them back.  I returned their call and another guy answered the phone "Department of Treasury." Gave me a name and an employee ID, asked my name and put me on hold to "pull the file." Then he told me that I had owed an outstanding amount on my taxes, and I'd been delinquent in paying the balance. I'd ignored all of their requests and summons to trial, and I would have officers delivering a warrant for my arrest today. When I asked for more information about the outstanding amount and charges, he said unfortunately I don't have access to the file, I am only in the department that notifies you. He asked for my criminal attorney's name and contact information, so that he could forward the files as well. At this point I asked for his information and said I'd get back to him. He tried to tell me again that officers would be hand-delivering the papers to my home. At this point I said, "are you sure you are looking for (my name)." He said that there must've been a mistake, wasn't my name "Stephen Rhodes" (or something like that)? When I said no, that's not me, he apologized and hung up...

I didn't give him any personal information besides my first and last name, so I have no idea what the purpose of this scam would be...

The purpose of the scam?  Well, the purpose of the scam is to get money.   They will tell you that all sorts of bad things will happen to you,.  But if you just send them money by way of an untraceable means,  the whole thing will simply go away.

Well I guess I pissed them off good.  When this idiot calls with the heavy accent and tells me an active arrest warrant for tax evasion was just issued, and my arrest (and my wife) was imminent, I asked him if his mother was a curry [***].  And if her snatch stunk of the stuff (sorry ladies).  Guy freaked out, I hang up.  10 minutes latter same call, this time a guy who could speak English--says he is Special Agent Baxter of the Treasury Department, and my previously "recorded " conversation was grounds for a terrorist threat (beats me LOL) so I say, listen scammster, you can go phock yourself, blow me and my dog and that's about all that's gonna happen here.  But if I ever find you..... hung up.  Now waiting for his supervisor to call ...  and to think I thought today might be boring!
