I got 3 calls from this number within a 2.5 hour period and got 3 messages. Caller had my married name (now divorced and not legally that name) and said that his client had filed a law suit against me. The # he wanted me to call back is in Chicago and all I could find out was it was a landline 312-912-7816. Said I had to call him back or this would go to court and "nothing could save me". Kind of freaked me out - there's nothing I could be sued for - but the mystery of it is unsettling.
I received a call from this number, but the background noise was so intense that I had great difficulty understanding what the caller wanted. (When they call them "boiler rooms," they're not kidding.) When I told the caller that the noise was too loud for him to be heard, and asked the caller to identify who they were, where they were calling from and what they wanted, they hung up.

I had the caller call my mother in Texas, but when she asked for an interpreter he hung up on her. I asked her for the number her caller ID which was 213-426-0720. I called the number and it was the same loud noice in the background and asked him who he was he stated he was Kevin Smith (sounded oriental) an attorney from the Allan Matkins Law Firm and when I began to question him he started sounding very nervous. I asked him for his fax number, name, name of the firm, his credentials and address.

Called regarding a payday loan which I do not take out payday loans
when I asked him his credentials he kept changing them from Attorney to Legal Counsel. Finally I asked him if he was a clerk, collections person, or secretary. He became quiet and nervous. Then I told him my attorney would be in touch with him and that he is not allowed to contact any of my family and work. I told him if he had a bill that I needed to pay to send it to my attorney.
I contacted my attorney and he stated that there has been alot of fraud out there and that people are being contacted and made afraid that they ultimately pay the debt even though they do not owe. He stated if he contacts me again to tell him to contact my attorney and hang up.
My attorney is going to send him a legal document to sease all contact.
Oh and to add to this, when I asked to speak with the Attorney in Charge, the Attorney had conveniently stepped out and I had to speak with him.
