The 239 437 0525 is the main office number. They have 12 different lines. In your case why they asked for you child is becuase they do a lot of medical collections and it is possible the provider didnt put the parents name and the collector is not aware of that. Its not a scam its a medical bill. Call em back and pay your debt.
Debt collector or not, they can't refuse to speak to the parent/guardian. If the parent is trying to find out what it is in regards to & the collector doesn't know that the person they are looking for is a minor then they should ask if they are parent/legal guardian & get their names. They can then inform them that they will call them back & call the company they are collecting the debt for to verify. To refuse to talk to them at all isn't going to get the bill paid.
In response to a lifeLock alert, I called this 239-437-0525 and determined I was speaking with a collection agency who had falsely advised a credit bureau of a delinquent account. The collection agency had. THE CORRECT INFORMATION FOR THE DEBTORS NAME AND ADDRESS but because the name was similar to mine, they placed it against my name though they claim it must have been the credit bureau's error.
It happens that we know the alleged debtor, contacted him and found out that the original medical creditor incorrectly billed the account's guarantor's insurance company and the creditor has been working with the guarantor ("debtor") to resolve the matter. Actually, though the account is NOT DELINQUENT but is in the process of being sent to the correct insurance company.
In my opinion, the collection agency is at fault for this matter appearing on my credit report and I expect to proceed under the Consumer Fair Trade Credit Agency for an opinion on the efficacy of my complaint an action available.
I must add, the lady we ( spouse and I ) spoke with eventually DID FURNISH SPECIFICS OF OUR INQUIRY CALL TO PROFESSIONAL aka PHYSICIANS ADJUSTMENT AGENCY
