I NEVER EVER answer my phone to an unrecognized number.  Although the area code is local for me, I didn't recognize the number and there wasn't a name associated with it.  As always, I Iet the call go to voice mail, and, no message was left.  If they were legitimate, they would have left a message.  Unfortunately I can't provide more info on the call.
