Answering Machine picked up - voice said Hello Hello - Won't leave a message, will call back another time. I have no clue who this is. Said Ft. Myers, Florida
We got a call from this number today at 5:32 pm and didn't answer. No voice mail message was left. The caller ID was UNKNOWN NAME. When I called back (our caller ID is hidden by default on outgoing calls) I heard a recording stating that it was the American Veterans Support Foundation. As I have written previously, this is a very sophisticated system imitating a live person. When you call, you hear only "Hello?" and the recording will not continue until you reply. I've replied in Spanish, and it continues anyway in English, no matter what I say. This is a new number for the same scam, and it will be added to our call blocker. Others have been 240-241-7819, 240-252-3089, 857-209-2708, 857-362-8302, and 857-362-8303.
Called here at 3:45pm today and I'm in Florida. They're not just targeting MA. I didn't answer ... I NEVER answer these unknown calls. Another bogus callroom down here is the Police Benevolent Society. They are the worst of the worst ... for every dollar they get you to part with, they keep $.999 cents! It's a new year so expect a lot of ramped up "begging for bucks" calls!
