IRS scam - call me today for $7000 payment immediately or go to jail. #1 - the IRS is NEVER going to call and demand payment immediately #2 IRS will not have you arrested #3 IRS will ALWAYS send you notifications through the mail, even certified mail #4 the person who called me today, called me by a name I have not used in over 2 years - so I definatly not the IRS and lastly #5 IRS is not going to call when a person doesn't have tax debt (like me). I don't owe taxes for anything, so I knew immediately this was not right. I reported number to the IRS, FCC, FTC, FBI, Homeland Security and my local police.
I received a call from this number, saying they are with the IRS, today, on a Saturday. They said there was a lawsuit filed against us for tax fraud. We did not have the phone number that they called us on, when we filed our taxes. And the IRS is closed on Saturdays. I tried to call this number back, and they wanted information from me, I didn't give them any information at all. I also tried to call the IRS, to see if it really was them calling, and that's when I learned they are closed on Saturdays. So this is 100% a scam. If this number calls you, do not give them any information. I am trying to find the exact location and "business" name for this phone number, so I can file a complaint against them. If they call you, I suggest you do the same.
If you go to the IRS website - there are several warning and notices telling people of the IRS scams and they would never call. They send mail for communications and never call to demand information or payment. I've received dozens of these types of calls from different numbers all over the US, threatening to have me arrested on the spot if I don't pay immediately.
I didn't pick up the call from this number but was still left a pre recorded msg from the "IRS" as well. I googled the call back number they left (not the same as the number from the original call) and it came up belonging to: Xo Texas, Inc.
Internet search says they are listed in the city of Channelview, Harris County, Texas
