Get PhoneTray from TraySoft.com - program runs on your computer and connects via a phone modem with Caller ID and voice capability. TraySoft has a list of compatible models on their website. When a call comes in, the program obtains the Caller ID information from the modem, then looks it up in your local file and then online on the TraySoft website. If a match for a blocked number is found, the program will play a sound file then hang up. The sound files provided with the program cover most scenarios, and include the three tones that signal a robo-dialer that the number isn't valid, but you can record and use your own sound files as well. I keep getting calls from this number and when I answer, no one is there. I tried calling the number and it says I've reached a number that is no longer in service. What can I do? It's such a nuisance.
I have fun with some of them. I take the phone off the hook, but don't say a word. Come back a few minutes later and hang up. I had one person keep asking, "is someone there?" On another I was in the bathroom, so i let them hear me flushing. Might slow them down a bit and save at least one person a day from a call. Wish I had the block device. I get home and have at least 3-4 calls on my message machine each day. Glad I'm not here to hear them!
"Call me about your mortgage". Leaves a voice message with call back number that is not the same as the number that they called from. I blocked this same scammer twice before -- they were calling from completely different numbers.
