I had a call on 18 Jul 2015. Caller identified as Ellen Smith and had a distinctly African sounding voice. She said that her company Windows Tech Support is aware that I am having lot of computer issues and would help fix if I logged onto my computer. I enquired if they are from Microsoft but she said it is Windows Tech. I asked to speak to her manager who spoke in an African voice and could hardly understand. I realized something was fishy and asked that they don't call again.
I just received a phone call from 302-268-6936. The caller said his name was James and that he was from "Windows" and that my computer had some malware on it. He wanted me to go and turn my computer on. I stopped him right there and asked for his name and number telling him that I would call him back. No chance! First of all - it's Microsoft not Windows that would be calling me. Second - I was already on my PC. Finally, I have an excellent firewall and security system on PC that updates every day. I checked out the phone number and found that I was right in guessing that something was not right at all. I saw this forum and read through all of the comments. The one thing that I noticed was the link to GoDaddy. I used to have my own business and used their services for years - so I called them and told them what happened. They are going to look into the sites that were listed and investigate this - it's fraud and that's not good for them to have on their client list.
