I answered because the area code is the same as where I live. Caller asked for the lady of the house. I was ticked off because it meant it was a solicitation. She identified herself as a telemarketer for Breast Cancer (BCFA). She also mentioned the name of the telemarketer company but I do not remember. She went through the typical script request for a donation and attempted to get a commitment I would send back the pledge card. I asked what percentage went to the charity. She hesitated but admitted 5% went to the charity because there was a high cost in calling people, sending out cards etc. She again asked for my commitment. I told her no because the cost was too high and terminated the call.
I believe this is the same company that would ask for my deceased husband. I asked them to place me on their DNC list. I suspect they are using a different spiel. There is no way I would make a donation to a telemarketer because of the huge overhead. I would suggest you donate directly to the charity.
This was really bothering me so I did some research. It was interesting to see that Breast Cancer Financial Assistance (BCFA) shared an address with Cancer Fund of America (CFA) which is considered one of the worst charities in America. It was CFA that called and asked for my deceased husband. Interested reading at

Be careful people. Just because it sounds like a good cause does not mean it is.
