It was a ? company wanting me to push 1 to talk to a rep regarding lowering an interest rate on our credit card. I have talked to one of these companies, and after talking forever, they say that another rep. will contact me. I never rec'd a call back. I wonder if it is a ID thief scam, or they are looking for credit card owners with alot of available credit? That is about all I can gather about these callers. I just refuse to answer these calls. I know I am on the "no call list" but that doesn't seem to matter.

THIS IS A SCAM!!! I picked up when they called. An automated voice said they were from "Card Services" and could lower my interest rate on my credit card. A man then came on. I asked him if this wasa telemarketing call, and who he was calling from. He claimed the called was forwarded from the credit reporting agencies, Transunion and Experian. He said he was calling to lower my interests rates on my credit card. The funny thing is I DO NOT own a credit card! I told him to please place me on their do not call list, to not call me again because I am on the federal do not call list and that he was calling my cell phone. He said he wouldn't do anything becasue I didn't ask him nicely, and he said he would have them call my phone 50 times a day!!! (This is odd because my tone was firm but not rude.) I told him he had to comply because it was federal law and I would report him. Then - get this! - he said good luck with that because the number was not tracable and they wouldn't get caught. DO NOT give this company any of your personal information. They would not identify themselves, and they fully admitted they were breaking the law!!! Just imagine what they are doing and not admitting! I wish something could be done!!!
If you get a call from a company that blocks its identity and the first 3 digits of the 7 digit phone number, its most likely a scammer. Scammers calling to tell you they can lower your credit card interest rates fall into this category. This scam is becoming more and more popular because of the condition of the economy, and with so many people losing their jobs. DO NOT give your personal information/credit card number to anyone you do not know over the telephone or Internet! You will be sorry if you do.
This is criminals trying to take advantage of you. don't even answer if you see this number on your caller ID. the fbi can't do anything about 'em because they are using a series of fake phone numbers.
