Caller ID said Florida. I answered on the second ring, got a recording telling my that my credit cards needed attention and that the rates could be lowered if I would press 9. The wording was careful to sound like they were talking abut existing accounts. Pressed 9 with the intention of asking to be removed from their list....got a man who spoke very softly I asked him to speak up and asked which card he represented. He stated that they represent 1000's of cards.....I said no thanks and asked him to remove me from the list twice but he kept talking. I spoke very loudly over top of him and he said " I won't remove you from the list if you won't listen." I told him again to remove me. He said "[***] you"....I hung up on him.
This is threatening and obscene. I want them to be stopped. Ruined my morning.
1-305-000-7989 called and when both I and my machine answered a female vice started speaking before my answering machine announcement message completed. After my answering machine announcement message completed, my "Hello" was met by silence, so I hung up.
I have had a call daily from this number. I now automatically press 9 and then get a live operator. They ask, are you responding to the low credit card rate? Yes, I say. Do you have ove $3,000 in credit card debt.
I then say that per federal law, since I do not do business with them, remove my phone number. Of course, they hung up immediately. Pretty soon I am going to figure out a way to keep them on the line in hopes that it will cost whoever they are some money.
I just got one and pressed 9. When someone answered I said I wanted to be removed from the list. He then asked if I listened to the message, and I said yes and they're annoying as hell. He asked why I didn't want to lower my rate and when I said I don't have any balances, he hung up.
Got a call from 305-000-7989 at noontime yesterday. Male agent said there was no change in my credit account and did I want to get a lower interest rate. I told him I wanted to 3 way call with my husband, dialed in my husband, and then discovered they had hung up.
This is not a telemarketing firm, it's an actual criminal organization.
Being rude or clever doesn't impress them.
On average, they'll talk to 1,000-2,000 people before they find someone willing to tell them a valid credit card number, which is why they're so quick to hangup. If you ask any questions, they know you're not a good mark and they need to keep moving on to the next person.
If you do give them a credit card number, it will be maxed out within a few minutes, then the money transfered to offshore accounts; no way to track it down.
