i just got the same call. they sound like mexican. they are a bunch of kids trying scam people dont fall for this scam. I told him that it would be impossible that you had my brother hostage because me brother is on vaction not even in miami.
It is just a shame that the police would not do something about this....I just got the call today, first the guy starts with the story about "your brother" but when he sensed that I probably did not have a brother he continued saying that it was my son who had an accident with his brother who got very upset and beat him up and that they had him hijacked and very badly hurt. Unless I would pay him $2000 my son would be killed.
The police should at least trace the phone number and investigate, this must be categorized as some type of criminal action.
I totally agree, but calling the cops is a waste of time. With the way everything is now, they are really busy out there handing out tickets, this is not an important matter to them, I hope this guy calls one of them , I bet they would take it seriously.
