received call from 305-228-3727. did not recognize number and waited for answering machine to pick up. no message was left. caller id said "florida call", and I thought it might be one a few people I actually know who might be calling from there. I also suspected (a more likely possibility) that it was a scam. reverse lookup indicated a Miami origin, but I didn't pay to get address. typed the number into Google and was directed to this website where my suspicions about it being a scam were confirmed.
I have an unlisted number so I'm curious to know where these con artists got it. What will reporting this actually net those who've been repeatedly annoyed by these calls? Are we wasting our time reporting it, or can something actually be done?
Got a call from 305-338-3727 a few minutes ago. I pressed 1 to talk to an operator and after being on hold for a minute or so I asked the guy "what is the name of the company you represent?" He said "do you have 2500 of credit card debt?" I said "I asked you a question, are you going to answer it?" He said "meet Mr. Dial Tone" and hung up on me. I am calling the FTC now at 888-382-1222 since all of my #s are registered with donotcall.gov.
I received a call from Rene Rivero. They called me this morning and left a message. The message was rude – "This is your last chance to lower your credit card interest rate. Press 1 to steak to an operator, press 2…"
I also got this call at 6 pm tonight. Never left message or said anything. I thought, "what the heck" and used a calling card from Wal Mart I still had and called them back to see what kind of a scam they were. After calling, the phone service with the " I'm sorry, but that number is no longer in service" came on. I had one with exct same thing(not in service) that called me from Dallas area code last month. Called several times.
