FROM INDIANAPOLIS
My mother-in-law had received numerous calls from this number and spoke to a  man with an Indian accent claiming to be from Microsoft and asking her to give him access to her computer.  She declined a number of times.  But last night around 7:45pm was different.  This time she was on her computer and it started to make a very loud noise and immediately a message popped up saying it was from Microsoft and she needed to immediately call  a number given.  In her panic due t othe loud noise that wouldnpt stop,  she called the number and a man with an indian accent picked up and told her to follow a few steps while he walked her through them so he could help her stop the noise.  He instructed her to click the mute button on her computer and then had her do additional steps that ended up deleting her Kaspersky software.  When she wasnt clear on the steps he gave, he became very loud and angry yelling at her to hurry.  He succeded in getting the Kaspersky removed just before my wife walked in and she immediately hit "control alt delete" which ended the further actions on the cumputer and they hung up the phone on the guy.  Immediately they called the best buy Geek Squad since we have an account and they explained this was a scam attack planned to disorient the computer owner into agreeing to give the scammer access to the computer.  They reinstalled the Kaspersky and ran a number of tests to make sure no viruses were left on the computer.  We think things are OK now, but I have told my mother-in-law to notify her banks and monitor her accounts for the near future in case the scammer had been able to access any private information.  The Geek Squad Guy thought things should be OK and recommended that we use Google Chrome as our browser from now on and that we add a free app called 'ADBLOCK Plus" which could help prevent this type of situation in the future because he said that the incident had probably been activated due to us clicking an fake "Ad" or "pop up" while on the internet which triggered the loud noise and bogus pop up message to call Microsoft.    It was a very scary event and it sounds like the same scammer guy that others are reporting from this phone number....so be ware!

I let it go to voicemail, if they bother to leave a message.
