Beware! I almost fell for this scam . They are convincing. I do own a timeshare and the information sounds very convincing. Whatever you do do not fall into their trap. demand they send you proof.
Caller called me reporting I paid for them to market my timeshare. I have no interest in paying someone to sell my timeshare. This person need to be found becasue he is running a scam.
"Ron" from Timeshare by Owner said I had an offer on my timeshare for $22k but asked permission to close the sale at $19k. I laughed and said sure. He also asked permission to rent out my banked weeks for $2k apiece. I laughed again and said sure. He said I owed him $3,999 in closing costs, marketing costs, and rental management fees. I laughed and asked him for his tax id number. He said he didn't have it. I said I'd hold while he looked for it. He said it wasn't readily available. I told him he was running a fraud, that I'd reported them once already, that I'd kept him on the phone as long as I could to gather more information for the police, and would be reporting him again today. He accused me of slander and said he'd sue me. I laughed again, because that's REALLY hilarious, and said sure. Then I hung up.
Very close to all of the above calls made to others. Asked to speak to my husband first, then me. Told me he wanted to complete the deal we had made in January for them to sell our timeshare. Said he had people who were willing to give us $20000.I said that's interesting. I had a guy tell me a couple months ago they had someone willing to give me $45000. He then recanted and said, Oh I have a guy who is offering that. I said. I never made a deal with anyone to sell our timeshare. He adamantly said I did. I told him I wanted a copy of it. He said I should have received it in the mail. I never. I asked him to email a copy of fax one. Said he would have to look into that. Then I asked him what CC I used for the $1000. He told me Visa. I let him go on awhile about that and then I told him I don't used my Visa and then he quickly asked me if the number started with a 4 or 5 Told him I wasn't sure. He told me that it must have been a MC then. It starts with a 5. Then I asked him what the number was. He said he would have to look that up. Very quickly wanted off the phone. He also told me that they had put my card through and there was enough for the balance of the $3995. to put it through today. My husband told me to tell him he would have to wait till Tuesday so we could check with our CC company and the name as to whether it was fraud or not. He immediately hung up on me.
I knew for a fact there was not enough room on the card to put through $3995. today. Definitely a scam.
