I'm on the national do-not-call registry. Today, September 22, 2014, at 1:04 PM EST I received a call on my phone (727-443-3400) from 305-368-7503. During the recording of lady's offer for lowering credit card interest rates, I pressed 2, hoping to be automatically taken off their calling list, and was forwarded to man identifying the company as "Card Member Services," told him I'm recording the call and twice said, "I insist you do not call again, do you understand?" Both times he replied, "Do you even know what this offer is about?" I answered, "I insist you don't violate my right to privacy," and hung up. I called back twice, got a beep, a fast busy signal for about 10 seconds and was disconnected about 20 seconds later, causing me to believe the caller ID was spoofed. Per http://www.ag.state.mn.us/consumer/Publications/CardServicesScams.asp I called the FCC at 1-888-225-5322, pressed 8 as directed (victim of caller ID spoofing), and was directed to go to http://www.fcc.gov/complaints and file form 1088B which I did. I also pressed *57 to trace the call, was then directed by my carrier, Verizon, to call their Nuisance Call Bureau (800-257-2969) who suggested I file a complaint with the FCC by calling 877-382-4357 (press 1 for English, press 1 to file complaint, press 3 for a representative) which I did. Kathleen at Verizon Nuisance Call Bureau told me Card Member Services has had two of their call centers shut down by the FTC, been scamming victims by unauthorized card charges, and even cursing at those they call. She said the less one speaks to them, the less likely they are to call back.
