When I picked up the phone, the line went "dead." Caller ID indicated it was a cell phone call from Florida. Just as well that there was no caller on the other end, otherwise I would have been called by some names that would have caused me to counter with language I don't like, or normally use! Shame on these desperate people . . .
The "card services" scammers aren't telemarketers--they're simply criminals. Discontinuing you land line will have no effect, as these druggies use a robodialer, which dial numbers in a sequential order, until someone answers, and becomes their next potential victim. Cell phones are just as likely to receive a call from these lowlifes as land lines are.
When they called me, the canned message asked me to stay on the line to talk to a representative. I tried to tell the "rep" to put me on the do not call list, but he kept interrupting me, speaking in an oriental sounding language and then taunting language followed that. This cannot be a legit company!
