Got a call and he said that i have to pay this right away by going to RBC and he was going to give me the account number to deposit the money into. He was going on and on and sounded so legit. Also to go to Wal-mart, Canadian tire and yada yada and get a gift card and send that to him.
Got a call from 305-396-2245 (CRA ????) on my landline telling me to call back because I was supposedly under criminal investigation for tax deficiency and tax fraud. This isn't the first time I got a similiar call from a different scam number. I wish these scammers could be caught FAST and prosecuted harshly!! FYI there is no 'Scammer' in the call type.
Got the same recorded message....only our answering machine didn't catch the first part of the phone message....just got the last part where I was told to call the "direct line" phone number, which was repeated.
Glad to have it confirmed that it was another of those stupid "Fraud Investigation Unit of Revenue Canada" scams.
We've received similar messages last year, only this time, the recorded voice was a woman's voice with no detectable accent.
