These idiots called our business again today.  The number was different from the last one that showed up on the caller ID but the scam is the same.  (Caller name showed up as "Bryan Russell."  Spoof.)  Man with an Indian accent claimed to be calling from some "online yellow pages" company and they had received a request from our company to cancel our ads.  This is all lies, of course.  He claimed he needed to give me a cancellation number, "Okay?"  Good try butt-wipe.  I said, "No."  He was, of course, expecting a yes, which they might have recorded and tried to insert in some bogus agreement.  When I repeated "no," he said, "Well, okay, if you want Mr. Martin to receive a $500 bill--"  I cut him off, telling him, "I know this is a scam.  F* off!" and hung up.  He called back immediately.  I picked up the phone and blew my emergency whistle into the receiver.  Will the idiot try a third time?  Still waiting.
No matter if you agree or not (and do NOT use the word 'yes' or any kind of agreement kind of word that can be taken out of context if recorded), these scam artists will try to bill you rectroactively for about $500 for alleged online yellow page ads your company did not have and never asked to be cancelled.  Previous # the same scam artists called from was 325-718-4640.  Of course, these are not real #s in that, even if they were valid, still lack the preceding numbers for an overseas call.

Same thing in our office. Two calls between 4:30 and 5:00 PM yesterday. One call today.  He really upset my receptionist yesterday. I saw the name "Bryan Russell" on the caller ID today and grabbed the call. The guy asked to speak with (me) about an overdue YP bill.  When I said he was speaking to the owner of the company, he just hung up.  I really think the scam is about bullying office personnel into paying a fabricated debt.
A call back to the caller ID number was answered by a recorded answering service. A reverse lookup of the caller ID number, 305-434-7047, indicated that it is a Virtual Office created by Offix Solutions in Miami.  http://www.offixsolutions.com

The butt-wipe actually had the gall to call our office a third time in less than a half-hour.  This time the boss answered after I had already warned him of this scam.  The two apparently got into a swearing match, with the scam artist now threatening to send a $1,200 bill.  Gee, in less than an hour, the fake bill went from $500 to $1,200.  Not THAT'S inflation.  I'm guessing that he jacked up the number in order to try to scare someone into agreeing to something.  But seriously, what is the point of persisting when someone already knows it's a scam?  Does the guy not know he's working for a scam?  Is he hoping he dialed a large company where the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing?  I'd love it if they sent a bill for services we never asked for, never received, and never asked to cancel.  We can always use more emergeny toilet paper.
