All "feel good" things to do. You waste your time filling in the forms, making the calls and still the phone keeps ringins with the harassing calls. The politicians are happy because they can wave a piece of paper legislation around saying that they worked hard to pass this law demanding that these harassers stop calling their voters and now if they call the politicians will "get'em" with big fines and jail and stuff. Unless of course they happen to slip a plain envelope with unmarked nonsequential hundred dollar bills into their suit pocket, hint hint wink wink.
Man with an east Indian accent has called a few times. The first time, I let him into my computer (I already my XP operating system was expired so didn't worry too much.) He has called again twice since I got my new computer and I keep putting him off. The last time I told him my computer was off. (It was.) I also stated that I was having a dinner party and couldn't take the time. He kept telling me it would take only five minutes. I repeated that I was having a dinner party and couldn't leave my guests to turn on my computer. He said, "Dinner. Party." He obviously didn't have a clue as to what I was saying. He became very insistent so I just said good-bye and hung up. It's been a week-and-a-half now so maybe he won't be calling back.
Previously he wanted to "fix" my computer problems "forever" for $259. He got no money from me.
I have been informed that Microsoft does not call its customers for this kind of thing.
I just got the call too. He knew my name and asked for me. I told him no one by that name lived here. He acted confused and he asked who I was. I said, "Well, you called me, so you tell me." He told me to hold while he double checked. I told him don't bother and hung up on him. Next time I am going to tell him that I already reported him to the police and please continue calling and talking so they can try to trace the call. That might stop him, if having the wrong number didn't.
