I missed a call from this number, and when I called back a man with a very heavy Indian accented man answered and it sounded like he was reading a script. He told me there was a case report with my identity. I asked him a question and he got very aggressive and yelled at me for interrupting him, saying not to be disrespectful with the law. I realized it was a scam and started laughing and he said "do you think this is funny?" and I said "yes" and he said "Well you can just hang up the phone and wait for the police to come to your door and take you to jail!" I said "okay" and hung up. I just want to know where they got my number and how to take it off their list!
Your number can't be taken off anyone's list. Caller are hardcore Indian and Pakistani scammer/extortionists. They buy and sell names (or leads). Vast market for information. Invest in a call blocker and DO NOT pick up on call numbers you do not recognize.
I have gotten a call from this number 2 days in a row now. Both times saying it was the IRS. I talked to my tax guy today and he said the IRS doesn't call people. I blocked the number from my phone.
