Made some sort of scripted speech saying something about the Florida Highway Patrol. Asked her if she felt that 8:30 at night was an appropriate time to call and that I had just put my infant down to sleep. She ignored me and kept talking. Told her to answer the question and she ignored me again. Told her not to call my number again and hung up.
Missed call from: (305) 587-2542 at 8:51 PM - was the email received by me from Google Voice but the dialer left no message. Got a call from this number on 4/19 at 1827, caller ID says WCS, they left no message. Since this number is a CELL PHONE registered in the Florida Keys, one can safely assume that it is a total scam. Scammers are now using throwaway mobile numbers and re-routing calls in (successful) efforts to evade FTC regulations. Blocking the number is useless- they just use another c-phone a few days later.
Best advice is to NOT ANSWER these calls at all- that will just encoyrage them to try again. And press your State and Federal legislators for stronger laws and greater penalties (prison time) for scammers and telemarketers. I know it violates Americans' love affair with Mamon-worshipping free enterprise, but if these kind of calls annoy the heck out of you, you have to make some compromises....
