A women called saying that she was from financial Freedom and she said she could reduce my credit card interest rate to 5% and that there would be a $2500 savings on finance charge(my interest rate had just recently risen from 7.9 to 17.9).  She asked for my credit card number, etc. and transferred me to a gentleman who she called their financial expert or something to that order.  He went on to tell me that he could negotiate with my creditor and that he could get my interest rate reduced to 5%.  I asked who he was paid by and he claimed to be hired by Mastercard to negotiate these interest rates and that there was a $699 fee for their services. Since I am unhappy with my new rate I made the decision to go with this company, it was my initial thought that the $699 would be paid by Mastercard.  Then when I was getting ready to receive my confirmation number the person on the other end stated that my credit card account would be charged a one time charge of $699.00.  At this time I told him that I had misunderstood his offer and wasn't interested in having a $699.00 charge added to my account.  He tried to change my mind but ended up hanging up on me.  I'm not sure if this is a legitimate company or if they were scam artists.
