These stupid number from Detriot keeping calling every single day! For their damn information, I am not their damn consumer nor is on any DTE Bill. I am on NO call list. They kept going! I am on verge to file report to BBB for hassarment. This is bs. They are getting on my nerve. They are a scam piece of [***].
This number called the office today. A lady asked for my boss. She was busy so I asked if I could be of assistance. She asked if I was authorized to act on the DTE account. This triggered my suspicions:
1. That is used by alternative companies trying to get you to switch services,
2. The caller id was generic (although that really means nothing as scammers can put whatever they want there),
3. We've had calls in the past claiming to be DTE looking for nonexistent people here as part of a billing scam.
I actually asked the lady, "Is this the 'you're past due and you need to pay us money scam?'" She replied, "Oh, no." I responded, "Whatever this is, we're not interested," and hung up.
It's sad that due to so many fraudulent phone calls, one can't trust potentially legitimate calls any more. At the same time, though, if our company needs DTE for anything, we can call them directly off the number on the bill.
I chose to mark this as "Telemarketer" in case it was a sales call.
Someone said she was from DTE and then a sales pitch for the appliance insurance. I told her i read the ad that came with the bill and did NOT want it . then came the sales pitch. You can get you water heater insured [ mine is gas] furnace and air conditioner, washer, dryer, dish washer and air conditioner . Told her all but 1 is still under warranty , then BUT for how long , etc . SAID NO-thank you and hung up <>.
