Called today on my cell phone. I have no idea who this is. No message is ever left. I don't answer calls from names and numbers I don't know. Only my immediate family has my cell phone number.
Yep this is Verizon. No big surprise, but here's the kicker: They were trying to collect on a bill they hadn't even sent out yet! I'm not a late payer and the previous month's bill had already been paid.
I've noticed that for the past year or so Verizon, the bank that holds my vehicle loan, and the natural gas energy company that supplies my area are all making collection attempts on bills that are either not yet sent out or have been sent out but are not past due.
Right after Christmas last year, with all the craziness that goes on with that, I got distracted and accidentally paid hundreds of dollars, that I didn't owe, to the natural gas company. They gave me the impression the gas was going to be cut off and I needed to send a payment ASAP. Apparently, their accounting people got it all straightened out because I didn't have to pay a heat bill all year until this month, which was for 67 cents! So that's how much the gas company scammed me for, almost a whole year's worth of payments.
They called three times the first time I figured it was a miss dial but after three calls I googled the number and found this page... I didn't answer any of them cause they were unfamiliar numbers.
