My husband called to inquire. After asking several questions, my husband told them we couldn't afford it, and said no thank you, and hung up. They called back. I take care of the finances and had just come home; they explained to me what it would cost - it was more than the car payments! I told him we weren't interested - he talked over me while I tried to interject 4 times. I told him we weren't interested again; the gentleman asked rudely, "why wouldn't you want to cover your car?" I told him the car travels 3 miles a day. I then asked that he not call us again, and to remove our number from his list. He started ranting that we called him (which was true, initially, but he did call back, which made me nervous by the way he was acting), and then he started insulting my husband and how I had to come to his rescue. It was at that point that I hung up.
Very unprofessional, and no one I would do business even if I wanted what he was selling.
Good grief. My number's on the Donotcall list - they kept calling twice a day for a week and I just didn't feel like calling them back after reading stories like the above. Finally I called them back --
They said I had an extended car warranty with them which recently expired (I didn't - this is the "reason" given to spamcall people, stating you're an existing customer). Anyway, I maintained I didn't. The guy I spoke to tried to pressure me into buying - no matter what I'd say (the car's old, I'm selling the car soon, whatever), he just wouldn't take no for an answer. He wouldn't even let me explain my actions - he kept talking over me. I had to raise my voice with an "excuse me" then kindly said that I'm just not interested - he then said I was being rude. Um, okay. He maintained I was an existing customer and laughed when I repeated I wasn't. The guy just didn't get it, so I just "I'm not interested, please remove me from your list," and I hung up.
The idiot called me back an hour later - I didn't pick it up.
I then filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org). I advise anyone who's been hassled by these guys to do the same.
CelesteSym-Smith is a lying scumbag scammer shill. There is no such thing as an "extended" auto warranty. These are service contracts with covered parts/duration spelled out in detail with so many gotchas that you will have a very hard time filing a claim, *IF* you can find them and they are still in business when you need them.
