I got a call from these clowns a few minutes ago. One ring, then the call disconnected.
I used *67 (Verizon) caller ID blocking to call back, and the recorded message was something like this:"This is Julie from Reward Redemption. You recently visited one of our affiliate websites". A $100 rebate voucher was promised from one of several well known retail merchants. Instructions were press "1" to get the rebate voucher, press "2" to be placed on their "no call list". I pressed "1" in hopes of being able to say rude things to a scammer, but no, I got a recording saying that the number I selected wasn't in service. The last recording didn't sound like a typical official phone company recorded message. So, do you still think this is an effort to collect a list of working phone numbers to sell to a telemarketer?
I received a call from this number. Called back and got a recording from a Julie stating that I recently visited one of their affiliates and won a $100 rebate voucher to be used at Walmart or other major retailers. Was told to press 1 to receive the voucher or press 2 if I wanted to be placed on the do not call list. I pressed 1. I got Chris on the line. I could hear several other telemarketers in the background. He asked for my phone number. I gave it to him and he asked is this (he stated my name). I said yes. He then wanted an address to mail the voucher, and an email address. Next he asked for $8.90 shipping fee to be place on a credit card. That's when I ended the conversation.
