Strangely when this number calls me the caller ID is 314-317-0382 BUT the number showing is just the last 7. They never leave a message, call at least 1x a day and sometimes twice. Today after another call about 1 hour ago I used *67 and called the number. The woman who answered was pleasant but she did not answer with the name of her business. I asked if this was a business, she answered yes. Had to ask what business. IF this was a legitimate charity surely she'd never state was a business AND would've answered by at least saying, Children's Cancer Dream Charity the name she gave her business when asked for it.
I believe this is a SCAM such as we've been hearing about on our news in the STL area of Missouri. The number comes back to a home land line in Saint Louis, MO.
I consider her a telemarketer working from home claiming to be a charity but in reality lining her own pockets with "donations", think about it how many people who answered their phones would turn down a children's cancer call. Even a donation of $5.00 given by say 50 out of the say 200 calls made a day would support her nicely wouldn't you agree?
Said they were Children's charity raising money for cancer kids to go on dream trips. I already give to that sort of charity and am not going to give to a charity that cold calls me and hides their Caller ID. Lady was very pleasant and not obnoxious as typical scammers are so may be legit, or may not be. Would not give directly to someone cold calling.
Glad you said that you don't give to cold-calling charities. A VERY good policy. CBS/ABC news did a story a while back on children's cancer charities & some turned out to be multi-million dollar frauds. Give local.
