Caller ID said GADSIP2. The person on the other end kept saying "hello....hello....hello" on the answering machine. He didn't identify himself or say anything other than repeating hello over and over.
The national Do Not Call list is a sham. It is continually ignored by a host of telemarketing jerks. And neither the FCC nor the FTC do anything worthwhile to stop the calls.
My second telemarketing call of the morning was from Lila at 314-627-6988. With a heavily accented voice, she was blatantly trying to sell some kind of emergeny alert device, even after I told her to stop. The call was unwanted and a violation of the Do Not Call list.
After hanging up on her, I called the number back and got a recording that starts out "you have been called for telemarketing purposes." Can you believe that? An open admission that it was a telemarketing call (which is a violation of the law)?
The recording goes on to offer two options - 1) leave your number after the beep to be added to THEIR Do Not Call list, or 2) to speak to a live operator. Option 2 got me a message expressing their sorrow that "the voice mail box is full." Back to option 1 to leave my number after the beep - except there is no beep, no matter how long you wait.
