Contractor with message about all sorts of government mandated programs for energy and water conservation, even somehow including walk in tubs for seniors.
A call from this invalid (obviously spoofed) number arrived both yesterday and today. In both instances, when the call rolled to voice mail, the caller left no message, just dead space. This is typical of robocallers (unlawful telemarketers) who troll the phone lines in a desperate search for victims.
According to several posters, this is a scammer (so what else is new?). A good rule of thumb is always to let your answering machine take calls from unfamiliar numbers, including those that are obviously spoofed, including this one.
Answering machines are great because a person can listen as the caller leaves a message, if they do leave a message. But voice mail doesn't allow that, not on landlines that is. Smartphone apps might.
