This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the LA County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #1. I have called the number. It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there’s information on www.cafop.org . Plus, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for LA County police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.
This number call repeatedly and as late as 9pm without leaving a message when we don't answer and when we do answer, tey apparently make no note that we wish to be removed from the list.
When they called a year ago I told them I wasn't interested and the guy told ME to [***] Off. I called back to report the fundraiser's behavior and got put through to a holding line where I waited and nobody picked up. Realizing it was probably a scam, I just never picked up the calls again. They eventually stopped until this past week. This time, I listened to the pitch and when he asked me if I wanted to give a donation (my credit card) to him over the phone, I told him that I do not give my credit card over the phone, but I would like to get materials sent to me in the mail. His response "Oh. I get it." And then HE HUNG UP! It's a scam for sure.
