This is just one of MANY numbers they are calling from - telemarketing - recently with some kind of construction flare or solar - "your local contractor" - these caller ID numbers are dynamic generated on the fly - I believe some kind of VOIP or Internet calls - more often then not I hear silence after I pick up - some auto-generated clicking (like in that credit score commercial on TV with two bulky computers in an empty warehouse that doom unsuspected consumers) - and then after the silence, robot call "GOOD BYE". Sometimes I get this "GOOD BYE" right away. But once in a while, an actual person comes online, and it's not someone from overseas with unrecognizable accent, but rather a classic American voice of a "local contractor" asking by name, as if calling off the white pages! BTW, updating your number on the 'Do Not Call List' DOES NOT help to get rid of these unsolicited calls.
This is a pretty good indication their predictive dialer received more answers to the computer generated calls than there were agents available to answer. These dialers call multiple numbers at once, many more than agents available, knowing that a percentage will not be answered by a live responder in order to maximize the usage of the agents in the call centers.
Called with some b-s sales pitch asking for the owner of the house, my husband played dumb (like these people apparently are) and said the owner wasn't home, this number and 818-877-5115 might very well be one and the same. My husband and I live within walking distance of 4 police officers just in case and I've been told my aim is very good when I go to get rid of stress at the shooting ranges.
