This stupid number has called me 6 times this morning and its in spanish, when I call the customer service line for the LA DPSS office its all aitomated and they dont let you talk to a live person.
It's a total scam. The State sends out letters to remind people of the SAR-7 reporting requirement. Also,
check the Mr Number site and look up 323-307-5908. You'll find references to "LA DPSS CTY OF". Another indication of a scam The City of Los Angeles does not have a department of social services. The Department of SOcial Services is a Los Angeles COUNTY department.
This is a scam and so far as I can determine, you are part of it.
Let me remind you that the DA has his own set of investigators and they could be knocking at your door soon.
OK, so I got this call at 8:20 AM this morning. Came here, saw all the posts regarding LADPSS. I DO live in Los Angeles county, si I de used to check it out. Blocked my caller ID & called the number back. Got a recorded voice saying "Los Angeles County Department of Social Services" and then it hung up.
Checked my voicemail. I was left a message saying the National Weather Service had issued a flash flood warning in my area (it rained all night herd, something that normally sends most Angelenos into a tizzy) The message instructed deaf & hearing to dial 211 on their TTY devices.
I wondered why I would get this call, then I remembered I used to be registered with the L.A. county SCAN program, which was a registry of disabled residents who might need assistance in the event of a disaster... earthquake, flood, wildfires, etc. I was notified a few months ago that that program was dusbanded. This may have been a result of my being registered in that program, I would tend to think so...probably not a scam, unless scammers got hold of the phone number that was associated with the SCAN program...nothing surprises me any more.
It most certainly isn't. It called my daughter's cell last year. I called ladpss directly on a diff number as this doesn't work and they have no record of her....nor should they. She has never been on any kind of assistance. Calls started again this week with 6 of them in 8 days and though her number is from LA she hasn't been in the country for almost a year for work
