Received phone call at 11:30 PM on a Friday night claiming to be the Microsoft
Care Center claiming that my PC has been sending error reports. How unlikely is that, that actual Microsoft rep would call at that hour and that they would even know my name? Don't think I've ever had contact with Microsoft. Ended phone call without following they're instructions.
I received a phone call from someone with a horrible accent telling me my computer was generating error messages and he wanted me to turn on my computer so he could access it and send me the information. The number he was calling from was 607-7249716. I declined to talk to him. Later I received a second call from the same person. These two calls took place between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. today MST, 10/01/13. When I asked him what number he was calling from he told me it was 323-647-4107, however the number on my telephone ID said he was calling from 630-694-1356. In checking all three number by calling them, each number was "no longer in service." Not sure what the scan is, but I would suggest that you not give them access to your computer. His last comment was that he was going to block my IP address so I could never use the internet again.
This number called a "Microsoft Care Department" and wanted us to turn on our computer. There is not a "Microsoft Care Department" that makes home calls.
It's a scam. Do NOT respond to it! They want access to your computer, your personal information and your financial information. They will corrupt your computer, then offer to fix it..for a fee. They will leave your computer corrupted, leaving it open to be remote viewed.
Do not respond to any calls or e-mails from entities claiming they need access to your computer. Do not reset passwords from anywhere but the site directly. Never from a link.
