Claimed to be Comcast, wanted my address to set up technician visit. This call came the day after I contacted Comcast to upgrade our residential service. Somehow, these frauds have access to Comcast database!
These guys are pretending to be authorized Comcast dealers and I know they are working with someone from the inside because I called Comcast to order new service the day before and decided not to go with after giving out my personal information.
The very next day I received a call from this number and the person was apologizing for the bad before of the person I spoke with the day before. He already had all my information and he went on to say he was going to fix everything, he said the earliest he have a tech out to my house would be about a week. Then he said he would escalate my order and have get someone out the next day, so I thought every thing was set.
10 minutes later he calls back and tell me I owe for previous service and how did i want to pay for it because he could not connect my service until the bill was paid. I told him I had not use Comcast in over 20 years and I did not owe anything any there was no way i going to give him my credit or debit card information.
He sounded very angry and he said to me I no longer want to help you and hung up the phone.
just got a call from a guy said he was a representative from Comcast and want to know why I didn't want to run a credit check on my personal information and that he can help you over the phone today on a holiday no thank you hung up the phone
I also received a phone called this phone number. Much of what the caller said was true. I asked him where he was calling from and he said that he was calling from California but he was originally from Dubai. He began his conversation by pointing to the fact that I had contacted Comcast the day before and decided not to go ahead with any of the offers. He also said that he could get me a better deal but he needed information similar to what Comcast asks in order to get the best offer available. I was glad to get a better deal that simply I did not pay attention to the fact that he asked for my full social and date of birth. After a while he said that I did not qualify for the service because I was still active on the account. He then request the same information from my son. At the end, I asked for a reference number and he said that I would get one on my email account. I waited a couple a minutes and after a while I contacted Comcast and explain the situation to them. I immediately filed a credit card freeze with the 3 major credit card reporting agencies. The California Secretary of State should look into this. I will contact them tomorrow morning and file an Identify Theft report and hope that this help catch these criminals
