Just called. Had my first name. She said it was from some breast cancer fund raiser. No matter what questions I asked. The reply was all the same. I asked where did you get my number? She said we are from a national nonprofit organization. I again asked what company or organization provided you with my numbers? She said we are a non profit national organization. Very persistent and stuck to script. She said may I put you down for 25.00 or more. I said no. She said I will put you down for 25.00 . I then hung up and blocked number
Number called and ID said Medina VW, but my machine picked up and they hung up without a message. I'm sure it is a telemarketing scam. After reading above comments, I'm glad I didn't answer.
They called - no message - caller ID said QVD (as in the first post here) - I gather from one of the above posts that it's a cancer fund-raising company - therefore it is NOT telemarketing, but just as bad as a lot of the cancer ones seem to be bogus. (Several are run by various members of the same family who, between them, pull in close to a million a year, of which the supposed charity gets less than 2%.) Personally, I'd rather deal with a telemarketer than contribute to these over-rich and under-principled sheisters - AND their corporate lawyers! If you want to donate to a particular charity or hospital, do so directly, not through a fund-raiser on the phone. The charities themselves are often genuine - but the phone-calling fund-raisers are very often NOT!
My answering machine picked up, I never do anymore because of all the nuisance calls. A woman immediately called out my first name as if she new me. No formal request to speak to me. These people have no shame. I didn't answer and when they realized they were talking over a recorded message they just hung up. In my record message I specifically tell these people not to call me unless I know them or it is some sort of emergency. They don't care and just call again the next day at about the time I get home from work. I guess I'll have to add them to the "Do Not Call List" as if that does any good. Has anyone been penalized for violating that law, I doubt it. That is why they keep coming up with new telemarketing scams,
Got a call from them at 4:58 pm, did not answer, have seen this breast cancer telemarketer number before, from Medina wv and salem ohio.I will not donate unless it is known charity that will post how much goes to the actual charity!
