I answered and a very nice lady was fundraising for Breast Cancers Survivor Foundation. One of the programs they fund is giving donations to clinics that do mammogram tests. When a woman cannot afford a mammogram, or does not have insurance, they provide the mammogram at no cost to poor women who do not have means to pay for the test. Breast Cancers Survivor Foundation is a legitimate, well rated Charity. I told the lady that calling in mid January is terrible because people are paying for Chirstmas, paying higher heating bills during the winter and also getting ready to pay the Federal Income Tax Man in April. She was very understanding and was willing to accept a pledge of $15 from me. There will be a mailing to my home which is a step that non legitimate charities skips. When the pledge paperwork arrives, it gives me time to do further research and actually determine if I want to go ahead and send the pledge dollars in. The lady asked if I would be comfortable with this amount and when I said yes, I was then transferred to a mailing man who confirmed my address etc. I believe this is a legitimate telemarketing operation for legitimte charities. The called ID came up as "Manchester" on my caller ID.
