I explained to the caller (cannot be described as a gentleman) that I waS unable to participate. The response I heard: "What's the matter; are your finances tight that you are not able to support the children?" "You are not my fianncial counselor, and have no right to ask me that." The caller persisted, and I ended the call with "YOU ARE WAY OUT OF LINE." Click.
That's the end of my conversation with these folks. From here on, I will just hang up.
Further, they are using a State line for non-State fundraising purposes. I am paying for his line! How bizare is this scenario?

Got a call at 7:10 pm on Sunday eve 6/01/08 from 330-375-0821, my wife answered the call, caller identified himself as Dave Reynolds. asked for me by name. When she handed me the phone the caller had hung up. Also caller ID says it "State of Oh THE"
I, too, have received 3 calls from this number (they identify themselves as the Police Athletic League) in the last 5 days. The first call I answered and told the gentleman that I'm unable to donate this year. He mispronounced my street name and - trust me - if the person is from around here, they would totally know how to say the name. The number is local, so the weird way he said it seemed a bit odd to me. The second call I ignored. The third one I just answered a moment ago (Aug 16) and the guy pronounced the street name wrong AGAIN. It was a different guy! The first one I spoke to had a southern accent - this one didn't. Anyway, I told him I'd already been called and said I can't donate. He never said thank you or I'm sorry - he just HUNG UP on me!
