Know your rights>>>> Collectors are "NOT" allowed to call people you know except to get an address and phone number, and they "MAY NOT" call you on Sundays, holidays or between eight a.m. in the morning and nine p.m. in the evening. They are also restricted from harassing you by calling all the time. See the Resources section for more information.
Information Collection Companies Would Rather You Not Know
This is a very informative site with information everyone should have. For example, in this state, not all things must remain on a credit report for 7-10 years. Check it out. Hope it helps those of you who use it. I know I found very helpful.
I just got a new cell number 2 weeks ago and have been getting these calls up to 5 times a day. I listened to their message and called the 800 number they gave. An automated system wanted my account number(I do not have an account) or social security(which I did not and would never give). I just stayed on the line and it finally transferred me to a real person who told me he was taking my number off their records as we spoke. He assured me I would receive no more calls.....we'll see.
