Called Saturday afternoon, sounded like internet connection. Started off with a sales pitch for security system Company who "would be in your neighborhood". When asked if he knew of the fine for unsolicited calls to a do not call registered number, he hung up.
This number called my DNC listed landline today at 1026 hours. I knew at a glance that it was yet another scam artist and just let it ring. After about three or four rings, they gave up. Based on the comments of others, it appears that this particular scam artist likes to run a full gamut of well-known scams, from "free" alarms, to debt reduction, to car warranties. Others on whitepages.com got claims the call was about health care and a senior citizens group. Yup, this person is all over the scam map. The number, unsurprisingly, is VoIP, that common tool of scam artists world-wide and is not even a valid number, so it's illegally spoofed on top of everything else. (It is illegal to spoof a number if you are trying to wrongly obtain anything of value, like a scam artist trying to get someone's credit card number.)
