Someone said that they were from Microsoft and said that to verify they were not a scammer they would tell me my windows license number. They told me to go to my computer and run a mcd and I said well what is my license number you said you would give ME to verify your legit. They said that is what I'm trying to get you to. I said I knew how to get to my license number and I had it on my screen and I was waiting for them to verify it and after running around that for a minute they said well it's ok I have it on my screen I do not need it from you. I said if you have it on your screen why can't you just verify what is on my screen? They continued to say I was not at my computer and I reassured them I was and they asked what I was seeing on my comp and I asked what I was supposed to be seeing. Any tech should be able to tell me what I'm looking for and what box they want me to click on but not this guy. He told me I was wasting his time and hung up on me. That's a new one. A telemarketer/scammer hanging up on me and me wasting their time when really they were wasting mine!
A computerized voice told me that the call is from "US Bank" saying my bank account has been suspended. TOO BAD, I HAVE NO ACCOUNTS ON US BANK! For sure, this is a scam.
IT IS A SCAM BIG TIME!!! I get these call all the time, also from California and Ohio. I was getting more than 7 calls every day all hours day and night, early, at meals and late at night, Saturdays and Sundays, they are relentless to get some one to scam and take your money!!! No matter how many times you tell them not to call you they continue to harass and call you and won't hang up. First of all Microsoft DOES NOT CALL CUSTOMERS!! Everything is done inside the computer and reports are sent internally. I called our computer tech and he said they place these calls periodically and try to get you to put things on your computer to protect you from viruses, and other programs which are already included when you buy your computer and the others you can get online free from Microsoft for no charge just by downloading them. We fixed it by getting caller ID which is only $7.95 a month, a lot cheaper than the aggravation of getting hassled by scammers all the time. Just ignore the calls, they won't leave a message since we have an answering machine so they hang up before that happens even though they kept calling over and over and over. BEWARE IT IS A SCAM!!!!
