I repeatedly receive phone calls from this number. He leaves a message that he is some kind of legal support person. Threatens to send my case to court if I don't return call. This is a scam.
30JUN15 - Received call from 330.791.3291 (Ohio) and called back. A black guy, Jeremy, answered and started in on his script, explaining he was working for the State of Texas and I have a "fraud case" pending. I immediately interrupted and informed Jeremy that I know what these calls are about and if there is a true case pending, to please send me a copy to my PO Box and I will be happy to look into this. Jeremy was noticeably upset that I interrupted him and started to say that they WILL NOT mail...I interrupted, again, saying, "I know your tactics but if I have a fraud case [in Texas], I would expect a notice, in writing."
Perturbed and very, very upset, the black man, Jeremy, hung up on me prior [me] receiving any information on what this was truly about.
I was once a small business owner and I did have debts, there is no avoiding or denying this fact. I am NOT proud of the fact that I defaulted on a "payday" loan(s) when trying to survive. I have, over the years, been paying the past debts off and I am frequently monitoring my credit report and paying the open accounts off. An open account is one that affects your credit report and is listed within the credit report. I, in no way, shape or form, condone defaulting on any obligation, as repayment of obligations is what separates the USA from 3rd world countries. Additionally, I do not tolerate the Gestapo tactics of these bottom feeders. I have NEVER received an evolved threat from a current default that I am working towards and trying make good.
After a time period, default(s) are "charged off" and reported as a loss on a/the company's P&L. Nine times out of ten, this "default" will drop off a person's credit report but, your credit suffers while it is reported. I know this is a long post but, do not panic when receiving ghetto calls of this nature and I would not avoid speaking with these people. Just simply ask them for the data in writing and you will be happy to respond once official communication has been received. Also, do one's best to meet obligations. I know the past eight years have been rough on all of us but do your best and know a Gestapo phone call is nothing to be scared of, by any means.
The call goes like this: "... This is Richard Meads (?) with pre-trial intervention you have a case and office that needs your immediate attention. I need to speak with you or your attorney of record immediately today. My number is 330-791-3291. If I do not hear from you or your attorney and all ...[unintelligible] ... counsel and submit your case. [unintelligle] yourself accordingly."
This is definitely a recording. Each message that is left is exactly the same.
