The man that called said he was investigator James and started to ask me questions about a family member, including how I was related to them. He didn't seem to know anything about the family member which sent red flags up. Didn't give him any info, not sure if he is legitimate or not. Wouldn't give me his full name or a compnay.

Same name (Ryan James) and same number left for me to return call. Call was made on a Sunday but I just checked answering machine today. I'm not going to call him back. Believe it's a scam of some time. Said he was investigating someone and needed a reference.
Guy called on August 6,2009 and stated he was an investigator looking for a subject who was related to me. The name did not ring a bell with me. Said he was working to repo a vehicle. I called the number he left and got a hold of Ryan and he could not provide me with any substantial information on this subject. I told him I was a police officer and then he said he would call me back when he got back to his office. Never heard back. I attempted to call him back the next day and the phone number is now out of service.
Received a call from a man saying he was Ryan James and asked me if I was Shelley and I told him yes, and he asked me if I knew a person named ****. I told him no, that I did not think that I did and he said that my name came up related to him. I told him that I no longer had that last name and that I had been currently married to my husband for about 9 years now so I would not have a clue as to what was going on in that family.
He asked me again about the certain person and I told him that the only person I could know by that name did not use that name like that. That he went by another version of that name and he said YES! That is who I am talking about, and then I said yes I did know him and he asked me where I could find him as he was trying to locate him as my friend is going through a divorce and his soon to be ex is worried about him and afraid that he will hurt himself. As he kept talking be back tracked his reason and said that he had taken her car and she wants to find it, then as we talked (mind you I knew he was BS and I had asked him how I knew he was on the up and up) he came BACK around and asked me about my ex husband.
I told him that my ex and his family do not talk to me, but the guy you are looking for I do talk to his sister. I told him that I would get a hold of her FOR him. He said that would be great! as he really needed to get HIS car back from the guy he is looking for... I was like WHAT? He said yeah I need to get back my car.
I said.. what about his ex wife? He then asked me if I knew where this person was and I told him.. LISTEN dude.. the last time I acctully laied EYES on this guy you are looking for was way way back when my youngest son, who is now 18 years old, was still in diapers. He was like.. OOh.. so you REALLY do not know much about this family.. I told him no I don't, and neither does the family as they are not a close knit family either.
He then gave me his name and number and asked me to please pass it on to my friend. I told him I would and I did.. but now after reading this.. I am calling her back and telling her to NOT call him at all. I may even call this guy back and tell him what I found out about him.
OH YEAH.. a couple other things.. He acted all strange when I asked how I knew if he was who he claimed to be, and he talked with a strange lisp sound to his voice.
Ok....it seems like Ryan James is still in business. He called my house at 8:56pm on Monday, and I didn't find the phone in time. I am from Ohio, but I did not recognize the number or the name...(and the fact that he couldn't pronounce my name, as simple as it is told me he does not not know me), so I have not returned the call. I don't know what made me Google him,but I am glad I did, I will not be calling him back! Now, I just want to to know who he is and how he got my info.
