Not only have I received at least 50-60 phone calls on my cell phone but my previous employer has received over 200 phone calls from these people They are rude, asking for money and I have absolute proof I do not have a payday loan with them as they say they represent CashAdvance.com. I was almost going to send them money to get them off my back but decided not to. They have made me sick, I had to take a day off of work unpaid in order to get complaints filed against them. And the phone company can't block a business phone with this number...come on...what in the world is going on??????
I'm a receptionist at a very large office, and this number has called and asked for the same employee 8 times in <1 minute, because the employee's voice mail is full. He identifies himself as John Bravo and refuses to give information about what he needs, which department can help him, etc. He finally stopped calling when I told him I'd email the person his "urgent message". I suspect debt collector.
call ur phone company and tell them the number that's calling u and get it blocked!! they have been calling me too and asked all kind of info.. DONT GIVE THEM ANY INFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I work for a Missouri Sheriff's Office and a complaintant came in to report the harassing phone calls. I called the number myself and cave a false name. They asked for a case/file number and my social security number I acted as if the phone was breaking up while asking for their address. It sounded like a call center and could hear other people in background asking for a phone number to somebody else. I called again this time stating I was a deputy and asked for a manage. I was told I was speaking with one. I asked what type of business this was and was told they could not tell me. I asked why and was told I was a, "Sand Nig, [***]", and the names kept going. The complaintant advised she is getting calls at work and on her cell. As for the cell, you can down load a phone block for free.
Apparently this number called my place of employment on 8-5-2013. I was out of the office for the day so the owner of the company was answering the phones. The guy that called stated his name was Shawn Hill and he was calling about an investigation. Shawn was told that I was out of the office so then he asked for my cell. The owner said you are not getting any information and hung up. When the owner would not give him any information such as my cell number and he was told not to call back he proceeded to call 12-15 more times that day.
This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
ABC News released an investigative report on this scam a year ago:
